The Point - Beating the Market

I am one of the believers. It is possible to beat the markets if you put an honest effort into managing your investments. In spite of finding all kinds of new ways to lose money each year, I have always outperformed the major indices since I took control of my investments. That doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement but at my worst (so far) I was doing better than handing my money over to the financial services industry.

Bill Cara has a great blog that covers the entire market. He is a "devotee of personal sovereignty and self-directed action". His post on beating the market outlines the major forces that are aligned against the little guy.
