Hangzhou, China

This we leave China for Vietnam. Our base in China was the Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake. Our first day consisted of a day trip to Shanghai via a bullet train ride with top speeds exceeding 300km/h!  That evening we saw "Impression West Lake" which was a cross between a Chinese opera and a massive outdoor Cirque de Soleil show. Just think what those crazy Quebecois would do if they had access to a lake.  The show was put together by  Zhang Yimou, who directed the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

The second day we did a boat cruise on West Lake and checked out a very beautiful temple. This was followed by a visit to the famous Dragon Well tea plantation. A Chinese female, reminiscent of Ron Popeil, used iodine, rice and hot water to demonstrate the amazing antioxidant properties of green tea. Then we took a bus to Ningbo and while long bus trips aren't usually a trip highlight, it was interesting to see all the trucks carry various manufactured goods.
