What Have You Been Reading?
Justin Halpern's tweet sums up just a portion of the current state of media consumption. The point he left out is that on the Internet, you're not even exposed to the things you don't agree with. Pretty soon you're going to believe the shit you read because you're not exposed to anything contrary to your opinion. This state of affairs may provide comfort, it is warmest in the middle of the herd after all, but it is anathema to a speculator. Innovation happens on the edge, not the middle.
I'm not making this up. Google searches vary dramatically by not only your browsing history, but the location of your IP address (which could be anywhere but is assumed to be near your physical location). DuckDuckGo's video illustrates a problem of the worst kind. One you didn't even know you had. What have you been missing?
