What is the future of LNG in North America?

Last time I checked,  liquified natural gas (LNG) was going to be an increasing component of North America's energy supply. Now we see projects being cancelled in New Jersey. Even more interesting are the decisions to convert from importing to exporting LNG made at Kitimat, BC and Freeport, TX.

If the most intensively explored part of the world is able to consider exporting natural gas what does that mean for global natural gas supplies? Do the fear mongering "peak oil" proponents stay up late at night worrying about these things?
