Toronto Resource Investment Conference - Saturday Recap (Palace of Gold)

Attendance at the Toronto Resource Investment Conference was surprisingly strong given the current state of resource stocks.

Saturday morning, I moderated the "Eye Opener" panel which featured Victor Goncalves, Leonard Melman, Danielle Park and Jay Taylor. In the afternoon I was on a panel with Greg McCoach, James West and Marina Trasolin.

After a long day at the Toronto Resource Investment Conference it was time to head of to the Gold Anti Trust Action Committee (GATA) reception. This is a hard core group of gold bugs and they are not pleased with the current state of affairs. Premiums for physical metal are on the rise while "paper gold" seems to be stuck in neutral. On the positive side, neutral in a wicked bear market is leading to some mammoth outperformance for precious metal believers.

This was followed by the Cambridge House speakers dinner. These are raucous affairs where the food is good, the wine is excellent, and the company outstanding! I was seated at a table with Tony Simon, Denis Clement, Paul Van Eden, Victor Goncalves, Greg McCoach, John Kaiser and Dave Forest

I left the speaker's dinner a bit early to see one of my favorite bands, The Sadies, play at the Horseshoe Tavern.

They played "The Story's Often Told" which is really a Blue Rodeo song called "Palace of Gold"

So the story is often told
Of how a man sells his soul
And how it's lost before he knows
And all he's left with is his palace of gold

GATA people would not be amused.

Part way through he show, Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor came out and did a few songs, one of which was Diamond Mine.

The entire show turned out to be work related!
