Turner Valley Oil Boom -1914

Recent flooding in Southern Alberta has drawn attention to the old Turner Valley gas plant site which lies in the flood plain of the Sheep River. I've posted some of the gory geological details on the Big Picture Geoscience Blog. This area was the cradle of Canada's oil and gas industry and believe it or not there was rampant speculation in oil stocks after the Dingman #1 discovery well blew in.
